63rd National Awards: Best Tamil film Visaranai-Ilayaraja and Samuthirakani conferred awards

63rd National AwardsThe film Visaranai directed by Vetrimaaran has won the National Award for the best Tamil film. Ilayaraja bagged the award for his best background composition in the film Tharai Thappattai.

Today morning the 63rd National Awards were announced in New Delhi.

Tamil film Visaranai gets three awards:

Vetrimaaran had directed a film titled Visaranai. The film was based on a novel titled Lockup. This film has won the National Award for the best Tamil film. Editor Kishore who was in charge of editing Visaranai has won the award for the best editing. Samuthirakani won the best supporting actor.

 Ilayaraja has been given the award for his best background score in the film Thara Thappattai. This is Ilayaraja’s 1000th film.

Amitabh Bachchan won the best actor award for his fine acting in the film Pikku. Kangana Rawat has won the best actress award for her best acting in the film Thanu Meets Manu Returns. Last year Kangana Rawat won the National Award for her best acting in the film Queen.

63rd National Award list:
