V M C Haneefa who had donned comedy, character and villain roles in many films including Mahanadhi, Vaigasi Porandachu, Youth , Modhi Vilayaadu and Vettaikaran passed away yesterday at Ramachandra Medical College Hospital at 3.45 pm.
For the past few months he was suffering from acute liver cancer. He was being treated for the same. Yesterday his condition became very severe and in spite of the doctors severe treatment, he was not able to make it. He breathed his last at 3.45 pm. Kamal Haasan on hearing the news rushed to the hospital and paid his last respects. His body was taken in a van to Kerala at 7 pm. His funeral will take place in Ernakulum today.
