Sampath made his debut as villain in the film Niranja Manasu. After that he continued to do villain roles in more than 25 films. Recently he spoke about the homo role he did in Goa. He said,” This credit goes to Venkat Prabhu only.
He only reflected me in a different way in the film Saroja. He told me that I am not the villain in Goa but I should don the role of a homo. He said that others would be reluctant to do the role and I should do it. His words motivated me and I was convinced that I can do the role. Once Venkaat told me the role, a person who had worked with me in Mumbai came to my memory. At that time itself I have studied his character. His mannerisms were registered in my mind. Keeping him in mind, I changed myself totally before three months of the shooting. I changed my beard and mustache. I applied eye liner. Wherever I went, I behaved like a homo. Some people enjoyed it, some people humiliated me. At that time itself I thought this character will be a great success. This has happened now.”
