Kanchipuram- Thiruvallur District Theatre owners association arranged an emergency meeting on the 18th of August to demand a refund for the movie Kuselan. They asked for a refund of 75% of the MG (Minimum Guarantee) amount that they claimed to be in the loss.
They have boycotted all the films of Kavithalay which under production. Rajinikanth however is willing to pay 10 crores, but the theatre owners want a refund for all the 300 screens that released Kuselan movie at the MG level. Rajinikanth tried to cut down some parts to see if it will improve but no luck. He gave Rs. 25 crores to the distributor of the movie Baba which was also a loss. Rijni’s movie Chandramukhi in 2005 hit the box office to create a new history, which ran for 800 days. It broke the 64 years old record created by Haridas in 1944.
