There was news that director Venkat Prabhu after Mankatha will be directing a film for Studio Green. This was also confirmed by Venkat Prabhu.

Surya was supposed to don the lead role but now Karthi is donning the lead role. The film is titled Biryani with a caption ‘ A Venkat Prabhu Diet’.

It is expected that Karthi after completing Alex Pandian will act in this film.

Venkat Prabhu while speaking about this film said, " The same team Yuvan, Praveen, Srikanth, Sakthi Saravanan and Vasuki Bhaskar who worked in my earlier films will work in Biryani.

I called all of them and narrated the story of Biryani. Biryani film will be like by both veg and non veg people." At this juncture, talks were held with Samantha for the female lead role.

Since did not materialize, talks were held with Ileana and Pranitha. Now Richa has been signed for the female lead role. Venkat Prabhu has mentioned that the other cast and crew will be announced next week.
