The film Nanban directed by Shankar has been released and is doing well at the box office. This film is the remake of the Hindi film Three Idiots. Shankar while speaking to the media has mentioned that he will not direct remake films in future and will also not produce films because he has incurred heavy loss.
Cinema News From Tamilomovie.com
Shankar said, "It was a challenging for me to remake the Hindi film Three Idiots in Tamil. I had to be careful that the originality should not be spoiled. Vijay had transformed himself and acted in a different way than his usual acting style. Everyone liked this film. Everybody has appreciated the songs in Nanban. They have said that the songs were better than the songs in Three Idiots. It was a new experience for me to direct a remake film.
In future I will not direct a remake film. The films that I have produced did not do well at the box office. I have lost lots of money because of this. I have burnt my fingers. Now only I am able to come out of this financial crunch. I am yet to decide that who will be the hero of my next film."
