The famous Tamil film music composer M S Viswanathan’s wife Janaki who was ill for a long time passed away yesterday at a private nursing home. She was aged 73. For the last two years, Janaki was suffering from kidney problems.

She was undergoing treatment for the same. She was treated in her home. Two months back her health conditions worsened. Because of this she was admitted in the Miot Hospital at Ramapuram in Chennai for treatment.
Her husband M S Viswanathan and other family members were taking care of her in the hospital. All the music composers including Ilayaraja had been to the hospital to enquire about her health. In spite of intensive treatment she could not be saved. She passed away at 4.15 pm yesterday. Her body was taken to Santhome residence at 6 pm. Floral tribute was paid on behalf of South Indian Films Music Composers Association. Important members of the film fraternity also paid floral tributes. Janaki has four sons and three daughters. The cremation took place at 12 noon in the Beasant Nagar crematorium.
