Commercial tax officers have refused to give Manithan the tax rebate stating that Manithan is not a Tamil word. Manithan is a film which has Udhayanidhi Stalin in the lead role. This film which was released yesterday was directed by Ahmad. The film was produced under the banner Red Giant Movies.
Once the Censor Board granted U certificate for the film, the production house applied for tax exemption. The commercial tax committee after seeing the film mentioned that it cannot be granted.
It has been mentioned that Manithan is not a Tamil word and is a Sanskrit word. Moreover some of the sequences are disrespecting the court. At this juncture, the production house will be filing a case against the government for not grating the tax exemption.
