There are times, when the movies based on social issues manages to get perfect results among the audiences. On the flip side, the films of same pattern have been a victim of criticisms that many audiences don’t prefer getting preachy messages from the film.
This happens to be the situation for Samuthirakani’s latest release ‘Appa’, which has opened up with different perceptions of reviews. While the multiplex and city based audiences feel that the film is too preachy, the spectators of village and sub-urban areas have shown a keen appreciation for this film.
‘Appa’ as the title suggests is about the tale of four fathers, who bring up their children in different models. Samuthirakani, being a decorous father wants to explore the strength of his son and let him achieve the best on his way with proper guidance, whereas Thambi Ramaiah keeps pressuring his son to score State Level No.1 and there are two more personalities, with its own intentions and way of living that affects their children terribly. The film’s biggest asset is reported to be Ilayaraja’s musical score.
