Comedy actor Karunas donned the lead role in the films Dindigul Sarathy and Ambasamudram Ambani. Now he is donning the lead roles in the films Ragalapuram, Machan and Chandamama. All these three films have comedy stories.

Karunas while speaking about his acting in comedy films said, " This year films such as Kalakalappu, Sundarapandian, Kadhalil Sodhapuvadhu Yeppadi, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi and Marina were great hits.
The high budgeted films which had serious stories flopped at the box office. This year more than 100 films failed at the box office and because of this there was loss for Rs 400 Crores. People these days are undergoing stress because of price rise, traffic congestions and official problems. They are coming to theatres for relaxation.The films that make them laugh are a great success. That is the reason that I am acting in comedy films. The film Ragalapuram in which I have donned the lead role will have more comedy than my earlier films. Mano who had earlier penned comedy tracks for Vadivelu is directing this film. Next I will be acting in a film titled Thappu Attam which is to be directed by Ramnath."
