Anand Raj who rocked the Tamil cinema in villain roles in the 1990s has now become a comedy actor. Everyone loved his comedy role in the film Naanum Rowdydhaan. He has done so much comedy in the film. After this, comedy roles are heaped upon him. When asked Anand Raj about this, he said, “In today’s cinema an Ee (housefly) has become a villain. In the next film dog has become a villain. After this, even ghosts have become villain. If it was male ghost we can fight but female ghosts are coming. In this case how can we don villain roles, so I have become a comedian?”
It all happened during the audio launch of ‘Maragadha Naanayam’ starring Aadhi and Nikki Galrani in lead roles with Danny of ‘Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara’ playing an important role. It is touted to be a fantasy adventure film.
Soon after Anand Raj spoke about this role of transformation from villain to comedian, Sivakarthikeyan who was attending the event as chief guest jokingly admitted, “During those days, kids were frightened up by parents showing the villainous image of Anand Raj to eat their food or they would hand him over to him.”
