The film Thanikaatu Raja which had Rajinikanth in the lead role was released in the year 1982. There were tremendous rumours that an Arya’s film is to be titled as Thanikaatu Raja.
At that juncture it was also mentioned that the shooting of the untitled film will commence on 10th of this month. It was also announced that the shooting of the film will take place in a 100 acre rented land in Thandikudi village near Dindigul.
Why this announcement and what happened?
After Manja Pai, director Raghavan wanted to direct a film which would have Vikram Prabhu in the lead role. At that point of time, it was decided to title the film as Thanikaatu Raja since it would be suitable for the story.
Vikram Prabhu approached Rajini’s production house and got that title but due to some reason Vikram Prabhu was unable to act in this film. After this, Arya was signed for the film. Everybody was under the assumption that the film’s title would be the same but director felt that it would not be appropriate to use the title obtained by Vikram Prabhu.
